A mother is much more than just someone who reminds us of what needs to be done, cooks, cleans and launders for us. For me, my mother was my launching pad with a soft lap and a big heart. She motivated her children to help them reach their full potential and she praised us even when it wasn't that big of a deal. I remember my first musical directing job, it was for Diana Ross, in New York. My mother, all alone, rode the Greyhound all that distance from Los Angeles to NYC. She was so supportive of me. I will never forget her, my mother or, the realness she placed in my world and love she fed to my spirit. She gave me more than any one child could ever hope for, or moreover anyone of the 13 of us could ever want. Not only did she take good care of us she gave our lives balance during times that weren't always easy. She taught us how to feed our souls and she gave us spiritual foundation on which to build our lives from. She pointed us in the right direction and prayed for us when we would wander off onto another. She always was and, always will be ... 'My' Porter Marie ~
